Zielinski: Inter Dreams of Champions League, Lists Scudetto Challengers
Piotr Zielinski identified the primary Scudetto contenders and acknowledged Inter's "dream of winning the Champions League," particularly after their performance against Real Madrid.
The midfielder attended the Premio Gentleman awards ceremony in Milan. He returns to Italy after representing Poland and will resume training tomorrow.
Inter's Ambition
"We're a strong team, and we've shown it by consistently fighting back for results even when trailing by two goals," Zielinski told reporters. "That's our advantage, though scoring first and winning 4-2 would be preferable."
Inter has shown resilience, coming back from 2-0 deficits to defeat Napoli and Udinese, and drawing with Roma. They currently share the lead in the standings with Roma and Lazio.
When asked about the main Scudetto rivals this season, Zielinski stated, "We'll see as the season progresses; our main focus is on ourselves. The usual strong teams are in contention: Roma, Juventus, Napoli, Milan, and also Como."
Last season, Inter secured the Serie A title and Coppa Italia but exited the Champions League early after an unexpected play-off loss to Bodo/Glimt. Their Champions League campaign this season began with a 2-1 away defeat to Real Madrid. Despite the loss, the performance against the Spanish club offered hope to players and supporters.
"Winning the Champions League is certainly our goal, and we will give it everything," Zielinski added. "Not every team can go to the Bernabeu and dominate possession and create chances like we did. Although we lost that match, it proved our strength and our ability to perform at that level."
