Omo X: The Self-Balancing Electric Motorcycle That Never Falls Arrives in May
The Sino-Indonesian startup Omoway Technology has announced the opening of pre-orders and the launch date for its first electric motorcycle, the Omo X, set for late May 2026. This innovative vehicle promises to be a motorcycle that never falls, thanks to an advanced self-stabilization system.
At first glance, the Omo X boasts a bold design, described as a unique blend of a Yamaha TMax maxi-scooter and a Tesla Cybertruck pickup. Its core secret lies in a Control Moment Gyroscope (CMG) system, similar to those used in satellites, which keeps the motorcycle autonomously balanced. This system works by rotating a high-speed mass and tilting its axis to generate a strong control torque, effectively preventing it from falling.
Beyond its self-balancing capability, the Omo X is equipped with cutting-edge technologies. It includes advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as front and rear cameras, a 360-degree virtual camera, and an anti-collision radar enabling adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. It also supports Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication, hinting at future possibilities for "platooning," where multiple vehicles drive autonomously in formation.
Pre-sales for the Omo X will commence in April, with official sales beginning in late May. The initial launch market will be Indonesia, where the motorcycle is also produced, followed by an expansion across the rest of East Asia. Its potential arrival in Europe remains uncertain due to strict two-wheel vehicle safety regulations. While not the first motorcycle with self-balancing capabilities (preceded by concepts like the Davinci DC100 and Honda Riding Assist-E), the Omo X is the first to reach mass production.
